Description: Construction, alteration, and demolition operations present unique fire risks that have resulted in significant property loss, firefighter injuries, and loss of life. This course examines construction fire safety through the regulatory framework of OSHA 29 CFR 1926.150, California Fire Code (CFC) Chapter 33, and NFPA 241 (2022). The presentation begins with recent construction fire incidents to illustrate operational hazards and lessons learned. Participants will review OSHA requirements, key provisions of CFC Chapter 33, and the application of NFPA 241 for construction fire safety planning. The course concludes with discussion of emerging code developments related to temporary construction fire alarm and signaling systems being considered within NFPA 72.
